Rahr, the Cradle of Human Civilization

About 8000 million years ago the earth was only glowing gas. The land mass of Gondwanaland was formed about 2330 million years ago. Gondwanaland is the name given by geologists to a super-continent, which broke up and gradually metamorphosed into a number of our modern land masses.

Ancient land of Rahr within the Indian sub-continent was in present West Bengal area. Elsewhere it was extremely cold and full of snowstorms, but eastern Rarh had the living touch of warmth so the first humans came there million years ago after the ice age had retreated the area.

A book Rarh: The Cradle of Civilization by Indian scientist P.R Sarkar in 1981 is a vast collection of geological, historical, archaeological, sociological, linguistic, artistic and even spiritual subjects. Sarkar mentions that human beings originated at a few particular points on this planet, but Rarh is the most ancient human habitation. (One of the places Sarkar has mentioned that human life came first, was Alps. While visiting Switzerland he told the life came first to Alps, from Mars, DA).

Forests appeared over the rock of Rarh and invited rain clouds to the area, which provided vital nectar to Rarh habitation. The forest-dwellers of Rarh, clad in leaves, bark and animal skins, lived by hunting. They practised spiritual austerity taught by their inner urge; “Search, search, someone will give you what you need to journey forward...” Lord Shiva came to guide them 7500 years ago. The people of Rarh received the much-desired touch for their physical/psychic/spiritual desiderata. This way Rarh became the cradle of civilization.

Later on when people already spread on many locations they started converging on Rarh to join in singing the paean of humanity. Thus Rarh represented also the first-ever steps towards cultural progress. Burdwan is the most ancient of all towns, not only in Rarh, but in the world.

On that long-ago morning in the remote past, the golden light of civilization fell on the bosom of Rarh and diffused in all directions, the simple, open faces of the young men of Rarh in that bright dawn broke out in smiles; the flower-bedecked hair buns of the young women of Rarh tossed to the rhythm of a dance; and the rhythm of that dance spread amid the intoxicating fragrance of the mahul-tree groves…

Tears welled up in their hearts, longing the great unknown entity. This made the people of Rarh mystical. Mysticism is the never-ending endeavour to find out a link between finite and infinite. The longing stirred them to the point of ‘madness’ and creating the Baul song, played on one string. Later on kiirtan drew its impetus from Baul with devotional ideation on Parama Purusa.

Although human beings were born million years ago, human civilization started only about 15,000 years ago. However, a full-fledged civilization, with the four symbols of advancement – agriculture, the wheel, dress and script – started only about 7,000 years ago. Pictorial letters were invented less than 7,000 years ago. People knew how to make steel in the time of the Mahabharata 3,500 years ago.

The Himalayas were born much later than Rarh, as a result of a tremendous earthquake resulting from a volcanic eruption. Many rivers started to flow down the Himalayas including the River Ganges, and the River Brahamaputra. A vast plain (samatat) was formed between western and eastern Rarh when people removed the forest cover.

The dwellers of Rarh established settlements in Samatat, and began farming the vast tracts of uninhabited land. About 700 years ago, during the early part of the Pathan rule, there was a devastating cyclone which submerged Samatat. The geographical features and environment of Samatat changed radically, and the soil became saline.

As of April 2010, Indian archaeological excavations were uncovering the ruins of a fortress city of Samatat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samatata). The archaeological finds have now established beyond any doubt that the cultural and political centre of ancient Vanga-Samatata was located in present Mainamati, in southeast Bengal. http://en.banglapedia.org/index.php?title=Mainamati

The four-caste system did not originate in India, but was brought by the Aryans who began to proceed 8000 years ago from the north-western part of India. Rahr area was called Birbhum in the Austric language, but Aryans renamed it Varjyabhumi, which meant “a land in which Aryans should not live”. This situation lasted as long as King Shashanka led Rahr, and the inhabitants of Rarh set their pet lions and wolves against Aryans.

Jainism and later Budhism tried to conquer also Rahr, but the common people remained always Shaevas, followers of Shiva, in their minds and hearts. Rarh women were highly respected in society, but forced casteism harmed the whole society enormously. Update 12.4.2017. I spent two weeks in India recently and heard this story about Belamu hill (called fossil bahar) near Ananda Nagar. Sarkar used to go there and collect fossils of mammoths and dinosaurs even. He has told that when there was earthquakes and volcanoes erupting around, all kinds of animals gathered on Belamu hill to seek protection, but eventually they all died there. So the hill is full of fossils and in the future it is going to attract internationally researchers on the area.

Graham Hancock; Gulf of Cambay Cradle of Ancient Civilization. It is a well established fact that during the last ice-age the seas all over the world have shrunk and the sea level around 18000 years BP was about 130 m below the present day sea level. So, it is logical to look for submerged civilization near areas surrounding the present day Indian coastal areas. http://www.grahamhancock.com/forum/BadrinaryanB1.php.

Harappan’ civilization was in the North-western part of India adjoining Pakistan and Afganisthan. The cities had well lined streets, proper sanitary arrangements and excellent water conveying systems, including check dams for storing water. Variety of artefacts, metallic objects, many types of potteries, huge structures, etc have been found. Obviously there is major missing link between the ancient hunter gatherer people, and the ‘Harappan’ civilization.

Graham Hamcock, Ancient Civilization, the first link is for video which is not so clear, but the video itself is about same history,

Biblical flood could have been 15,000 BC. Enoch mentions the earth tilting on its axis (I Enoch LXIV. 1-3). Egyptian mythology; Age of the Gods ended around 10,000 BC because of the flood. Indicators of a catastrophe at Pleistocene 12,000 years ago; ten million frozen mammoths etc animals lay buried in northern Siberia, N-America, China. According some geologists 10,000 BC is the end of the last Ice Age, with earthquakes, flooding and the poles shifting. …………………….

Sarkar about the different races of India/Rahr; Though the inhabitants of Rarh are a mixed race of Austric and Negro (and some Mongolian), abundance of Sanskrit words and script shriiharsa is used.

The original inhabitants of vast region of the old Gondwanaland were the ancient Austrics. They practised Ganesha Puja and Phallus worship 2500 years ago, which was also spread to Mayan civilization; thus America is called Mayadviipa in Sanskrit (Mayan Island). Also the aborigines and Maoris of Australia and New Zealand belong to the Austric branch. The Austrics practised witchcraft, magical incantation, hypnotism, etc. The Austric word rarh means a land of red (laterite) soil.

Aryans started the invasion of India before Shiva’s time due to merciless nature of Central Asia. Just in order to survive, they had spend almost all their time collecting food. It had led to perpetual inter-group skirmishes. Aryan belief was that their saints got the wisdom directly from the mouths of the gods.

Aryans entered eventually also to Rarh through different waterways and did everything to rob Rarh of its freedom, forests, wildlife and wealth about 1750 years ago. The present Rahr is no better than neglected desert, but people are simple devotees and straightforward. A dreaded disease leprosy persists due to defective man-made socio-economic system.

The Negro-Austric Dravidians were the most developed - intellectually and spiritually. In regard to knowledge, city and town building, cultivation of science, social order and discipline – their wisdom is traceable in every line of the Ramayana.

The non-Aryans were followers of Shaeva Tantra. Individual meditation ranked very high. In quite a large part of the world the laws and injunctions of Shiva alone prevailed for a long time. Shiva travelled across the world and propagated humanism. ………...

Sarkar about some famous people of Rahr: Rashbehari Bose, a flame of revolution, who founded the Indian National Army (INA) for the Indian freedom struggle. Subhash Chandra Bose, this thunder like jewel of manliness, to whom Rashbehari confidently turned over the INA.

When India first began to receive Western influence, and crisis of conscience arose, a rustic man appeared with an earthen lamp of enlightenment; Ramakrishna Paramahansa, and Swami Vivekananda. Shrii Aurobindo, a pathfinder in the realms of revolution, philosophy and spirituality. Mahaprabhu Shrii Chaitanya with ideas in the practical and social realm. Maharshi Kapil and Patanjali inspired others to do noble deeds. Tagore wrote his poetry in Rarh.

Shining celestial bodies stir people to action in quest of their inner divinity. They influence all atoms. Jayanta Panigrahi introduced a new system of calculation based on the solar year. Professor Satyendranath Bose (Bose-Einstein theory), Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy (mercurous sulphide) were also Rahr scientists.

Vijaysingha from Rarh conquered Lanka [Sri Lanka] and named it Singhal. Sahasrabahu founded the Thailand dynasty and named the country Shyamdesh. They were not conquerors, but devoted themselves to the service of those new places.

Sarkar about animals of Rahr. The age of large animals never occurred in eastern Rarh. The whole northern India and Samatat-D́abak had been deep under seas. Fossils of sea animals has been found in the mountainous areas of western Rarh. We have found also fossils of animals that had been frozen to death during ice age, but in the post-ice age Rarh got fast back its heat, and various kinds of new animals appeared.

We have found samples of all kinds of fossils; lions, wolfs, mammoths, monkey-type men and ancient human beings, although no ice age followed after their emergence in Rarh. They probably died from earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. In those times the volcanic belt probably went along the western Rarh, because between those days and today a polar shift has occurred.

The need of the hour is to research the Rahr areas. Let Rarh shine again in its own glory! These excerpts were also edited from Sarkar’s book, http://anandamargabooks.com/portfolio/rarh-the-cradle-of-civilization/

In deserted, poorest area of Rahr, Sarkar started development project called Ananda Nagar benefiting 52 villages. In this area there are also about 70 so called tantra piithas, where great yogis have been sitting in deep meditation during hundreds if not thousands of years. I usually also sit there when I visit Ananda Nagar.
